ABOUT

With many successful exhibitions throughout Ireland and also internationally in the U.K, U.S.A, Philippines a
nd Australia, Grice has consistently challenged traditional arts practices. Often times creating work that evokes both a sense of melancholy and mirth. Blending classical methods with digital new media elements, celebrating extant themes and motifs.
Her studio, which has been predominantly based in the west of Ireland has since moved to the midlands. Her practice there continues to engage the wider contemporary arts community with her 2022-2023 exploration into concepts of scientific peculiarities, turmoil, and minutiae.

Aiden Dunne, IRISH TIMES CULTURE
"The exhibit displayed some very strong artists, which included Emma Grice, who used the idea of a motif repeated indefinitely to create a form or an image quite removed from the source. Hair, magpies, butterflies and even chicken legs mutate into intricately patterned forms in her remarkably accomplished drawings, prints and etchings. It’s striking that the best of the print work, Grice’s, for example, embraced the strengths
of the medium and also tested its limits."
